Interpretype Communicator and Translator

What is ITY?
Interpretype, also known as an ITY, is a face-to-face communication system that provides a means of communicating without using speech. Interpretype helps non-signing hearing people better communicate with Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Speech Disabled people.

Organizations use Interpretype to make their services and career opportunites more accessible. It levels the playing field when necessary qualities for face-to-face dialog are lacking such as hearing, speech, or language comprehension.

Interpretype has proven value in Education, Courts, Career/Employment Centers, Restaurants, Hospitals, Libraries, Airports and other Business and Public Accomodation Environments. It is intuitively easy to use, requiring only basic keyboard skills and the ability to understand a common written language.

Customers like Interpretype because it lowers communication barriers that arise due to hearing or speech related issues. And, its optional Language Translation Program assures language comprehension by translating, in real time, conversations between Spanish or French speaking people and English speaking people.

Interpreting-On-Demand
Interpretype also provides real-time interpreting services over the internet. All ITY Computers are equipped with video cameras and sound cards allowing connections for Video Relay Service (VRS), Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) and remote Over the Phone Interpreting (OPI) for foreign languages.

Now users can enjoy the freedom to communicate with any individual regardless of disability or language. Hearing people can communicate with Deaf, hard-of-hearing or speech disabled individuals in text or sign language. Users can also communicate from English to any of over 240 languages using a remote OPI interpreter and Interpretype’s Skype telephones.

VRS is a free service that allows users to communicate with someone in another location. VRI and OPI are pay per use services for face-to-face interpreting.

Available Interpretype Systems

Interpretype Communicator 2.2
This is the most versatile Interpretype system. The ITY computers can be connected in a peer-to-peer configuration for private conversations typical of employee interviews or management discussions. Users can also separate the ITY Computers and connect them to other computers in different areas or departments utilizing the included ITY software.

The ITY–C2.2 provides the greatest application fl exibility because it can be used in many locations either in the office or out in the field. And, it can easily be upgraded to perform real-time language translation with the addition of the optional Language Translation software.

Interpretype Communicator 1.1
This system is designed for use in conjunction with one of your existing computers. This configuration is ideally suited as an accommodation for an employee workstation, for customer service “over the counter” applications, or when connected to a laptop is a tool for field/off -site meetings.

An ITY–C1.1 ensures your organization is prepared for accurate and confidential communication regardless of the situation, location or environment.

Interpretype Communicator 2.0
This is the perfect portable communication system utilizing a peer-to-peer configuration. The ITY–C2.0 is easily transported and can be set up for communication in a matter of seconds. That means accurate and confidential communication can take place in any working environment.

Whether your meeting requires communicating with Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals, is in a noisy manufacturing plant or a quiet library, there will never be a question of what was said, when, or by whom.

Interpretype Translator 1.1
This system delivers all the benefits of Interpretype plus it translates conversations in real time between Spanish or French speaking people and English speaking people. ITY–T1.1 is designed for use in conjunction with one of your existing computers.

It is a perfect configuration for environments that serve Spanish and French speaking people in addition to people who have communication disabilities. It is compatible with any Windows XP or Vista operating system. For applications requiring mobility, connecting the ITY computer to a laptop computer is ideal.
